Crackers for every Andhra Pradesh celebration
Deepavali is the biggest, but it is not the only day. Each guide tells you when the day falls, what families actually light, and which boxes to put in your order.

The days the South buys crackers
Sealed Standard Fireworks boxes at the Sivakasi wholesale price, delivered for every one of them.
Deepavali
8 November 2026
Across Andhra, Deepavali begins in the dark with Naraka Chaturdashi: an early oil bath, new clothes, and the first sound at the front gate before the sun is up. By evening every doorstep, window ledge and compound wall carries its row of clay lamps, and the children are already out in the street.
What to buySankranti
Mid January, across Bhogi, Sankranti and Kanuma
In Andhra Pradesh, Sankranti is the biggest family festival of the year, the one people call Pedda Panduga. Families travel back to their home towns and villages, Bhogi fires are lit before dawn, the front of every house disappears under coloured muggulu, and the Haridasu and the decorated Gangireddu bulls go from door to door.
What to buyDasara
September or October, at the end of the nine nights of Navaratri
Dasara in Andhra Pradesh is ten days of devotion to the goddess, with the Kanaka Durga temple on Indrakeeladri in Vijayawada drawing huge crowds through Navaratri. At home, many families set out the steps of the bommala koluvu, their display of dolls, and around Vijayadashami tools, vehicles and books are worshipped before the evening visiting begins.
What to buyUgadi
In March or April, on Chaitra Shuddha Padyami
Ugadi is the first morning of the Telugu year. Doorways get fresh mango leaves, everyone tastes the Ugadi pachadi with its mix of sweet, sour, bitter and the rest, and later the elders gather to hear the panchangam read for the year ahead.
What to buyChristmas and New Year
25 December and 31 December
Coastal Andhra keeps a warm Christmas: stars hung outside homes, carols carried from street to street, and churches across the Krishna and Godavari districts full for midnight service. A week later Visakhapatnam sees the year out along Beach Road and from terraces all over the city.
What to buyFamily occasions
The other days that need crackers
Weddings, temple festivals, housewarmings and birthdays, each with a very different list.
Weddings
Whenever the muhurtham falls
A Telugu wedding in Andhra has its own moments for crackers: the baraat bringing the groom to the hall, the muhurtham when the jeelakarra bellam is placed on the couple's heads, sometimes deep in the night, and the send-off as the bride leaves with her new family.
What to buyTemple festivals and jataras
All year round, by each temple's own calendar
Andhra Pradesh lives by its temple calendar. The Brahmotsavam at Tirumala every autumn sets the tone for the whole state, and through the year towns and villages hold their own festivals: a car festival at the local temple, a tirunallu fair, or the jatara for the village goddess, Gangamma, Pydithalli or Polamamba, that the whole place turns out for.
What to buyHousewarming
On your muhurtham day
A gruhapravesam keeps to the muhurtham the priest has fixed, very often at first light. The family steps in together, milk is set to boil in the new kitchen until it spills over for prosperity, and the house hears its first celebration.
What to buyBirthdays
Any day of the year
A child's first birthday, a parent's sixtieth, or just a big family dinner often moves downstairs to the courtyard or up to the terrace once the cake has been cut.
