Christmas and new year crackers at the Sivakasi price
Coastal Andhra keeps a warm Christmas: stars hung outside homes, carols carried from street to street, and churches across the Krishna and Godavari districts full for midnight service. A week later Visakhapatnam sees the year out along Beach Road and from terraces all over the city.

Why crackers belong to Christmas and New Year
Both evenings lead up to a single moment at midnight. That makes them nights for something in the sky rather than a long run of small items, and one good cake at twelve says more than an hour of sparklers.
What to buy
Build the order around the stroke of twelve. A repeater cake or two for the moment the year turns, a handful of sky shots, and sparklers to pass round straight after. A garland at the gate is enough for Christmas morning.

Christmas and New Year questions
Are crackers allowed at midnight on New Year's Eve?
Where it is allowed, bursting on the night of 31 December is normally limited to a short spell around twelve, and the police in Visakhapatnam put out their own directions for the night. Read the current notification before you order.
What makes a good midnight show for a family?
A single repeater cake with plenty of shots, lit at twelve, then sparklers for everyone. Anything more is extra.
What is the last safe date to order in December?
Around the middle of the month. Transport runs slower in Christmas week, and even a quiet week means 4 to 6 days for a parcel to reach Visakhapatnam.
